The ALIVE conference is organised by Jesus Youth (Delhi).<\/p>\n
Jesus Youth is an international Catholic youth movement with a Charismatic spirituality. It had its beginnings in Kerala (India), but is now active in many different countries throughout the world. Jesus Youth is an initiative of young people themselves, who, filled with the Holy Spirit try to reach out toother young people. The strength of the movement is its special focus on a life centred on the Lord Jesus Christ; beginning with an experience of God, nourished by prayer, the Word of God, the sacraments and fellowship, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. Though not an actual community, Jesus Youth is a network of small but vibrant groups of young people. In their own life situations, they strive to give time to the Lord, responding to the challenges of today\u2019s world in the power of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n
Convinced that youth is a time of great generosity and creativity, young people from all walks of life are encouraged to do something good with the Lord. This has resulted in various ministries and faith formation projects which form part of Jesus Youth.<\/p>\n

Jesus Youth in Delhi<\/strong><\/p>\n In Delhi, Jesus Youth started it\u2019s mission in 1994 with a small prayer group comprising 5 youth. They spent the initial two years in prayers, intercessions sharing and in getting to know each other. In August 1996, the first youth gathering was conducted for 30 youth. The programme lasted for 3 days. The movement started gaining some momentum after this gathering. All the prayers and intercessions began to bring fruits and the power of the Holy Spirit had already started performing wonderful work. The first retreat was conducted in November 1996 for 60 youth and by the grace of God it was a success. Inspired and motivated, all of us prayed for a\u00a0youth conference. And it happened \u2013 the Youth Fest 1997. Five hundred youth from all over delhi came and participated in this mega event. This was a major breakthrough for the youth renewal in Delhi after which we started regular retreats, conferences and formation programmes in English, Hindi and Malayalam.<\/p>\n The vision of Jesus Youth is to reach out to every youth in Delhi and the entire north India. The Jesus Youth programmes are designed and formulated with our vision in mind. We are convinced that youth is a time of generosity and creativity and young people at all levels can be encouraged to do something concrete for the Lord. Christianizing the different life situations of young people is the primary task that they are assigned, since they are the best influence on the modern culture and inturn the most affected by it. In order to equip young people to accomplish this task, various ministries and teams have been formed.<\/p>\n The Jesus Youth movement in Delhi is coordinated by the Jesus Youth Central Team. All activities of Jesus Youth including retreats, conferences, and mission expenses are funded by the youth themselves. The contribution comes in the form of tithe.<\/p>\n In this fast moving materialistic world it is\u00a0 a challenge to upload the values of Christ and we accept this challenge because we believe that Jesus has promised us His Helper.<\/p>\n If you are a youth, and want to experience Jesus in your personal life and if you have the enthusiasm and zeal to work selflessly for the Lord, come and join this movement.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n At the service of the church<\/strong><\/p>\n On 29th October 2008, Jesus Youth received the approval from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) and His Grace Archbishop Abraham Viruthakulangara was appointed as the Ecclesiastical Advisor.<\/p>\n The process of being recognised as an \u2018International Private Association of Christian Faithful of Pontifical Right\u2019 officially began on 24th August 2009 with the Pontifical Council for the Laity.<\/p>\n Officially, Jesus Youth is a member of the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities and Fellowships \u2013 an international private association of members of the faithful having juridical personality in accordance with Canon 322 of the Code of Canon Law.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
